Old comment is old but I'd thought I'd answer.

I think it goes something like this:

Long coat Ieyasu is Izanagi while scythe-wielding Ieyasu is Death.

Long coat Mitsunari is Izanami while silver armored Mitsunari is an angel.

I think the basis is Life and Death with both characters taking on the roles.

Oh, I now I get it.

So, it's like they can be 2 people:

Ieyasu can become Izanagi and Death

Mitsunari can become Izanami and the angel

Yep. Basically, Ieyasu and Mitsunari represent both Life and Death at the same time. Only because Izanagi looks like he'd be the Life aspect while his scythe-wielding self is Death.

Same thing with Mitsunari with Izanami being the Death aspect while his silver-armored self is Life.
